Some people love it but frankly speaking this year, I hate it. Last 2 years kayuh lasak I attended, I love them.

More money they spend on dinner and lucky draw, lesser money they spent on the ride and track. They gave the cheapest water refill, even that, at 2nd water station, they dared to say that they run out of water and the supply was on the way! For the first time organiser, the reason is ok, but we are taking about the one of oldest cycling organiser in Malaysia! And also no energy drink.

They gave the best medal but the lousiest and the cheapest T-Shirt for the year 2011. The size of the T-shirt follow Pasar Malam stall, the XL looks like M to me.

This is no longer a jamboree. Previous years, 2009 and 2010 the ride were about you and your will to complete the course. You were allowed to complete even after 3pm. This year, even you arrive at CP5 at 12pm+, they asked you to skip all others CPs and headed straight to finishing line for CP9 sticker.

Facts from my garmin without CP 6,7 and 8:

    • Distance: 31.1 km (50.49 km 2010) (42km 2009)
    • Total ascent/descent: 1244m (1532m 2010) (1620m 2009)
    • Calories: 3106 (4326 2010) (4191 2009)
    • Highest peak: 384m (580m 2010) (746m 2009)

If the same format remains for next year, my advise is: If you think you can collect all CP stickers OR you want to attend the dinner, please join again next year, if not, a lot of other events you can choose.

This year I’m very selective in attending cycling events and Kayuh Lasak was top on my list but after this, it is not anymore.

Final note: My life, my stories, my views. You may agree or you may not.

Unnecessary queue for river crossing. Wasting 45 minutes for this. Faces of frustration!

My friend reached CP5 at 12pm but was asked to skip other CPs! He can run marathon 42km and surely he can finish the ride.

The only beauty of the event, the medal.

Salam, I totally agree with you about this year Kayuh Lasak.

Ming, youth park as start/finish will be great. But if the cut off time like this year, I have to pass.

    Salam Adi,

Couldn’t agree more with you. Another pointer I could add is, KOTRT could have chipped in in repairing the ailing bridge that caused a huge bottleneck before CP3. That caused many riders to appear at CP5 passed the closing time.

And I’d like to echo Adi’s words of disappointment on the water station and the t-shirt.

BC, just wondering why no negative comments on blogs and FB.

  • Jane Says:

    Hi Adi
Fully understand ur concerns n ur comments n frustrate highly appreciated for our future improvement.

We did our best to design the trails n cut off time, we expected the jam as mostly single track n slippery due to rainy day this year n also most of jamboree also jam problem but unforeseen n unfortunate the broken bridge, it’s Kaw ride, we understand riders passion want to complete the ride, we need cut off time to ensure all riders come back safe in time, not too extreme to riders regardless how many CPs you did. We design last rider complete at 4pm which is too extreme, this is the reason we need cut off time. Sorry we can’t do without cut off time.

Really sorry about the water point 2 mainly due to riders didn’t refill at water point 1.

Surely We do look forward for the improvement. Sad that you will not be joining Kayuh Lasak next year, but we are happy of course you keep cranking with other jamboree n choose the best for ur life stay healthy happy everyday most important!

    Happy cranking! Cheers!
See you around any other jamboree! Thanks a lot!

Thanks Jane to come to explain.

I miss previous years Kayuh Lasak. The last things we like is it turn into race like others. Kayuh Lasak should keep its identity.

Nobody need water at Water Station 1. I don’t even took a sip at this time.

Please bring back the old Kayuh Lasak and even the treasure hunt a day before.

Lastly, I hope organiser can take criticism, so it will show your professionalism.

Thanks again Jane for dropping here.

    Hi Adi,
Thank you and appreciated for your understanding.

We organize this kayuh lasak through our passion, we are nothing without support from you guys, also actually we didn’t mainly mean to turn it into race but our intention create more story for your friends’ vs friends’ ranking which we think is more fun with your friends! Happy that you all like it. We are happy cuz we riders came to our Kayuh Lasak because of it’s TOUGH, not the prize! :p

Water point designed for all the riders, we overlook all the riders rushed at water point 2. Sorry about that.

Our ambitious want to do Treasure hunt and Kayuh lasak together but due to lack of resources. But surely 2012 we do both!

FYI, we are just a normal cyclists who love and passion about cycling, we are not professional organizer as you expected BUT surely we did our best, of course we can take criticism, we are very happy all the comments and we fully accepted and respect all the comments throw to us for our future improvement, but sometimes we choose to be silented to reduce misunderstanding and arguement in public. Surely all the postive and negative comments we duly noted for next year kayuh lasak 2012 improvement. 🙂

I explain here didn’t mean for you to reconsider/recognize us how professional we are but i hope we all happy what we do for our life, we did our best for our life for happy and healthy, i knew you did too (i can see your blog about your life! hehee! :p).

    Thank you again!

    Jane
