I was ready to go back to school in September 2011. I applied for MBA in Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business, UUM.
I was so confident. My friend, a senior MBA lecturer in UUM, assured me that I need not to worry and he told me to consider my application already successful.
But, when the list of successful candidates came out end of July, my name was not on it. I felt frustrated. I was mentally prepared to endure the life as a student and to start living with books and assignments and also cope with my farsightedness. I would lie if I were to tell that I wasn’t feel rejected.
It seems to me that my BA in Accounting and Finance from Liverpool Polytechnics (old name of John Moores University) is not good enough, and 20+ years working experience was not accounted for.
I can appeal. I can call my friend to check on my application. I can call the school and ask why. But I did none of that.
From the day I filled up the application, I told my wife that whatever the result, Allah s.w.t knows what is the best for me. I pray for Allah s.w.t to show me the path I should take.
So, I can live without MBA. I do not have to spend a couple of years pursuing MBA for mere self satisfaction. I have tons of other things to do.
