I had a lot of negative thoughts before this event. I was not feeling well the night before. Driving 500km  from Alor Setar for this event was not fun at all. I did not like U-turns.

That 1st September morning, we arrived late. I had nothing for breakfast. We were looking for parking when everybody started running. We started when all runners in front of us already disappeared into darkness.  Luckily a few late comers appeared from behind. We met more runners when we stopped at Masjid for prayers after 5km into the run.

The U-Turns:  It seems that the U-turns were the reason that I can see who else in the run. If not I will only know a few runners with similar pace with me.

Garmin Forerunner 405: The battery supposed to last 8 hours. Maybe I charged it 24 hours earlier and it was more than  a year old already, it only last 36km i.e 6 hours in the run. To solve this, I have to run faster next time. I googled and found out there is  no solution to extend the battery life of Garmin 405.

Overall: The event was organised nicely. I look forward to join again next year and Ocean Marathon too.

I met Jason Thai in the dark. I got to know his name from facebook.

Enough water stations and energy stuff for the events. Fuel belt is not required.

It was a fun run. There were a lot of smiling, cheering and joking.

The scenery was breathtaking. You run fast, you lose actually.

What the future holds for this kid? We came across a few Kampung Orang Asli during the run.

I managed to finish it just before 1pm. It seems that I was running, walking, resting on the road for nearly 8 hours!

I was interested in so many things when I browsed Then I came to know that they have a big outlet in Malaysia ( I visit the outlet when I was on the way traveling from Negeri Sembilan back to Kedah.

It was huge but remotely located at No. 8, Jalan SS13/5, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan. Put 3.068481,101.597006 in your GPS and drive to it.

It is the biggest sport outlet I have ever seen but I think they just have less than 10% of what available online in

So I shopped at instead. The prices were much cheaper and they have markdown prices most of the time. I submitted my order on 4 June 2013 and it was delivered by DHL on 10 June 2013. Surprisingly fast coming all the way from the UK!

About the shipping, you have to play around by adding and subtracting from your cart. Then you will know the movement of the shipping cost. You will pay a lot less with multiple items.

    It has huge markdown section

Ordered 10 items weighted more than 5kg and paid £26 for shipping.

It was my second full marathon after Penang Bridge last year. This one is better. No pressure and everyone really took their time at water stations. It was well organised and I think they put everything back into the event.

From my garmin, it shows 43.4km with the time of 6:54.

    As usual, 3 of us.

This one was just for the picture. Actually, I walked almost all the way. Walking with my long legs can even overtook some runners!

The cold coconut was really a treat.   oceanmarathon4

I clocked about 5 minutes faster than my last marathon even with all the stops and 1km extra!

I’m looking forward to run the jungle one.

This one was hard. About 1,000 participants and I was among the last 30. It took me 4 1/2 hours to complete and I crossed the finish line at 12pm.

5.5km run, 40km cycling and 10km is a very much harder than Powerman last year. The elevation was the killer.

Looking at the medal, I need to participate in 2014 and 2015 to complete the collection.

3 of us from Alor Setar. It is really hard to get other cycling buddies to take up running.2013-03-31-731

Swimming is not for me in this lifetime. So, no triathlon.

I look forward for this kind of event. I need not worry about placing like most of jamborees these days. I don’t care about the distance. I don’t have to push myself up to the limit.

Now I just ride for a cause, or for friends. Cycling is fun again.

The picture of 90+ riders before crossing the border.

    The mosque that we painted

The meeting of the Great Adventure Bandung took place that night after dinner.

As usual, food is the main attraction in Thailand.

You can have Pulut Ayam in the morning, afternoon and night.

The resort we stayed was just THB350 per night

Looking forward to join again next year.
